A large abandoned cement factory in Italy. I find it reminded me of a cathedral with its large halls and tall arches.
The factory was founded in 1883 by the Pesenti family.
Production thrived here in the early 20th century due to the local resource as the rocks along the River Serio were rich in silica and being at the forefront of technology in cement manufacture. However the plant didn't keep up with the competition and in the 1970's financial struggles emerged.
Even with these struggles the plant was declared a monument to industrial archeology at the time of its closure in the 1980's.
