Dominating the skyline along the river of Liege we find HFB. A large liquid steel production site.
An extremely large site containing a power station which you can see in my previous report HFB Power Station, a blast furnace and a plethora of conveyors which actually spread all over the city linking to other factories in the area. This really is no exaggeration I even remember seeing conveyors passing through the upper half of a supermarket!!
Production stopped here in 2011 and it seems more and more sites in the area are following suit.
I beleieve there are still plenty of hidden industrial gems in the city still waiting to be explored. It’s hard to tell while driving around this area what is still live and what is actually abandoned.
