Crystal Palace High Level Railway Station: UK July 2014
One of two stations built to serve the exhibition building Crystal Palace.
The red brick terra cotta building was designed by Edward Middleton Barry and was excavated into the ridge below Crystal Palace and opened in August 1865.
Sadly Crystal Palace was destroyed by fire in 1936 and traffic declined.
Eventually the station closed in September 1954 and eventually demolished in 1961. The site was developed into housing in the 1970s.
Now all that remains is this beautiful fan vaulted subway which joined the station to Crystal Palace.
